Open debate "Upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the UN-centered international system" under the agenda item "Maintenance of international peace and security" [S/2026/417]. The Open debate, which will be presided over by Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, is expected to be an opportunity for Member States to enhance solidarity, build consensus, reaffirm their firm commitment to upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and revitalize the central role of the United Nations in the international system.
